On bad days, she begs me to stay
My white sheets make me feel so unclean
Dig out the blue ones, they feel more like me
I’ll wash all my hair if you brush out the knots
The needles will know how entangled I got
Hang up the mirror, so I stand tall to reach her, to reach
But quit talking about the shower, the power it’ll cause me to kneel
And quit walking me to water, like a horse, you can’t force me to feed
My dad has the words, they’re all tucked up his sleeve
He finds them in books I am still yet to read
He hides them away where they wait patiently
And on bad days, won’t you cut me some slack
A fist to the air, a pat on the back
Hang up the mirror, so I stand tall to reach her, to reach
But quit talking about the shower, the power it’ll cause me to kneel
And quit walking me to water, like a horse, you can’t force me to feed
When she begs me to stay I dare not misbehave
And I’m all out of luck ’til the guilt eats me up
And I crawl out of bed, tailed tucked
Hmm
