The doctors say these are trying times Mental health juvenile crimes They say their science can cure most ills With a help of a bottle of tranquilliser pills The politicians throw up their hands in dismay "The people don't believe a word we say" Come the next Election it's just like a game Where they lie and they bullshit without any shame Oh no no I can't believe what they say "It's all part of human natures way" If only for the children I hope and pray We see the dawn of a brighter day The papers publish the latest poll Thousands of people newly hooked on alcohol Yet millions get spent every year On telling us the virtues of spirits and beer The churches come on with that same old show About the place in the sky where we all go Crying "give us this day our daily bread" While the rain in the cities comes down tasting like lead Oh no no I don't believe what they say "It's all part of human natures way" If only for the children I hope and pray We see the dawn of a brighter day It should be so easy to hold out our hand Show some understanding of what you don't quite understand It should be so easy, love your brothers in the way you should Help them through the bad places, where you once stood While there's too many people of political extremes Think that pain and violence are their only means Too many people crying out for food While their leaders go on living to no good Oh no no . . .
