I stood in London's crowded halls in sixteen hundred six
When royal charter sealed our fate by King James' firm decree
We merchants bold, we nobles grand, we pooled our gold and dreams
To claim a wild and distant shore, to chase the empire's gleam
Shares flew like arrows from our hands, ships rose from dockyard fire
We'd plant our flag in virgin land, and set the New World afire!
Hoist the sails, my hearty lads, defy the roaring gale!
To Virginia we charge ahead, where fortunes never fail!
With stars our map and courage steel, we'll conquer wave and tide
The Virginia Company rides forth—our legend amplified!
I watched them launch from Thames' embrace—the Susan, Godspeed, Discovery true—
Captains seasoned, crews steadfast, into the sea they rolled
Months of storm and starving nights, yet still they pressed the fight
Till spring revealed the river's mouth, where the golden promise waits
Jamestown rose from fevered swamp, a stockade 'gainst the long unknown
I sent supplies and stern commands—hold fast, my men, stand alone!
Through famine's jaws and savage blades, through sweat and endless toil
Tobacco bloomed in foreign fields, rewarding blood and soil
We fought the dark, we chased the dawn—our venture fierce and true!
But twenty-two brought blood and fire, a massacre's red tide
My settlers fell, my hopes were scarred—yet still we would not hide
By sixteen twenty-four the Crown declared our charter torn
King James seized back the distant prize, no more our word to sway
The company crumbled into dust, debts heavy as the sea
Yet from our broken dreams arose a land forever free
Hoist the sails one last time, lads, though shadows claim the day
To Virginia we ventured bold, and carved our mark that way!
With hope our anchor, pride our sail, though fortune turned aside
The Virginia Company lives on—in history's endless tide!
The seeds we sowed in peril deep... now root in freedom's keep...
Our adventure never dies...
