Shopping alone again
I stare at the mannequin
Wish i was inanimate
Wish there was no narrative
Must be nice to not have a head
No way to count carbs or think
So hard if i shouldn’t have the bread
Just be in my body, hear what she says
And I bet she’d tell me to turn these nonsensical thoughts off
Cause I know she loves me
She keeps this heart beating
And she’s doing everything to stay alive
But she’s hungry she’s trying
To tell me they’re lying
She’s good to me and all I do is fight
But i can just love her, right?
We made it past 23
Got sold half a million creams
Bought into the age old scheme
That women should look sixteen
As if that’s not gross and weird
As if it’s not built on fear
As if we’re not meant to go through the years without any lines to prove we were here
And I bet she’d tell me to turn these nonsensical thoughts off
Cause I know she loves me
She keeps this heart beating
And she’s doing everything to stay alive
But she’s hungry she’s trying
To tell me they’re lying
She’s good to me and all I do is fight
But i can just love her, right?
Time to break this generational curse
From mothers to daughters we carry the earth
We’re doing it all we’re making it turn
We keep this world spinning why can’t we unlearn
The hate for our bodies is so undeserved
It’s always those closest to us that we hurt
Time to start writing love letters to her
Time to believe every word
Cause I know she loves me
She keeps this heart beating
And she’s doing everything to stay alive
She’s hungry she’s trying
To tell me they’re lying
She’s good to me and all I do is fight
But I can just love her, I can just love her
Isn’t that her right
